The first encounter I had with him(it) was on this very space when a learned fellow blogger and a great friend – Geetashree passed on a popular Tahir Shah video link to me as a comment on one of my posts about my long hair and the perceptions people develop because of their length. And only recently I was being confirmed by another close blogger friend Sfurti- The Haiku Princess that it was her who had shared the link and also the learned blogger friend Geetashree, in her comments, did mention she did not recall posting such video ( so nice of her ) but I thought she may have forgotten .. Poor me , I realize instead I am suffering from Short Term Memory Loss 😀

Happily I clicked the video to listen to the song – The track Being Eye to Eye – The music was catchy , the words were astonishing and senseless and the singer with his appearance and on-screen gestures kept me stare at the video with a” question mark” expression . The very first thought was – What is that ?? (No,not the song but the human like thing which was there in the video.) I was taken aback . Little did I know he is the ‘new kid on the celeb block’ from our loving neighborhood Pakistan. Although the music was catchy but the singer had scared me so much with his peculiarly awkward appearance , deadly dancing skills , meaningless lyrics , desi pronunciation of English words(mind it -its an English song from Tahir Shah) that I preferred not to know him anymore.

Later , after few weeks , another co-blogger with inspiring wit – Purba Ray mentioned a name Tahir Shah in one of her humour-packed hilarious post and that compelled me to google the name… And guess what ? The peculiar thing reappeared. It was there in my subconscious mind , I suppose , in the list of lifetime shockers. And then that was it. I heard that song yet again – Eye to Eye by Tahir Shah on YouTube and then saw many other videos on and about him(it) one of which included his interviews.

I was shocked to believe what I was listening to – Inzi Bhai ( cricketer Inzamam Ul Haq from Pakistan) could speak English lot better and could have been hired before the interview to allow the viewers make some sense. I felt inspired suddenly. This thing ( Tahir Shah and not his video 😀 ) it was speaking so confidently and only and precisely ‘his’ God knew and him what he was trying to convey. I learnt.Confidence sells. Thanks to that thing ( Tahir Shah and not his video-mind it) I have started believing myself and my English with limited vocabulary. 🙂 This was just a tribute to the confidence that Tahir Shah boosted in me . Thank you Tahir !
